Jokers and wild cards can be strategically used in melds to trick opponents into thinking they have different cards in their hand than they actually do. Because of this, players may have an advantage in forming satakigksets and runs as opponents may assume the wrong things about which cards are and are not available. By discarding some cards that could mislead opponents into believing that a player is attempting to complete a particular set or run, bluffing can also be used as a deceptive game strategy. To further confuse the opponent and bluff, it can be useful to raise doubts about who will declare "Master Yono" and win the game.
