Based on the version being played, the rules of Rummy can change considerably, but the basic ideas always hold true. In order to strengthen tapksheir hands & keep an eye on their opponents' moves, players alternately draw & discard cards. Each player starts the game with a set number of cards, & the remaining cards are gathered into a draw pile. To make a discard pile, take the top card from this pile and turn it face up.
